Mos Burger is what I believe to be the Harvey's of Taiwan. The problem with any of these particular establishments is that once you get grease out of your system it's hard to remember why you liked it to begin with. This explains Pat's and mine reaction to this place.

The food in Taiwan was absolutely delicious, from the sushi, to the local dishes everything was top notch. Oh man it's not fair, will I ever be thin? Don't answer that! By the by, the first photo is of local cuisine, the second is of Mongolian and the third sushi.

Taipei Night Market

While this picture does not properly show it, Taipei's night markets were a jumble of people, delicassies, odours (both pleasant and foul) and bright signs that bewildered our poor Newfoundland senses. It truly was difficult to shop in this area, due to the fact that your senses are on overload and you're just trying not to get run over by the mopeds going up and down the incredibly chock full pedestrian streets. Fun times.

In Taiwan Pat and I (mostly Pat, but I had my moments) were treated like rockstars. Why you may ask? Well silly, it's because we were white, and that's supposedly a big deal to these folks. Now we know how pretty girls feel. This is a photo we took after helping a local finish his English language homework.

In Taiwan we were able to see some pretty incredible sights, but I would have to put Taipei 101, the current tallest building in the world, at the top of my list of truly awe inspiring things. It's unbelievable that anyone would build anything this big, and it truly dwarfs everything else in this city.

Here's a photo of Chiang Kei-Sheik memorial hall, a memorial thingy that we went to about the guy who lost to Mau T'Sung for control of China after the Japenese were pushed out. Just imagine what they would have built if he had won.

Crazy Busy Y'all

Gosh it has been a while, you'll have to excuse the absence as Patrick and I have found Taiwan, and now the second leg of our Japan trip, to be busier than anticipated. In Taiwan we were lucky enough to be guided around by the lovely Jeannette Lye, which made the scenery all the more nicer. Besides being cute, she also has the ability to speak Mandarin, and read some characters. A better host and guide there is not, even if she and Patrick did make fun of my parents pugs.

Leaving Tokyo

Tokyo Tower Conituned

While the sight from the top was impressive, unfortunately the smog was not. While definitely clearer than China, or LA for that matter, there is no mistaking that there is definitely a lot of air pollution in this city. However I still think that it is a beautiful metropolis. Just always a bit foggy in the air.

Tokyo Tower

One of the best sightseeing trips that we have taken while here in Tokyo has been to see the Tokyo Tower. After half a day of sightseeing and browsing the famous Ginza Shopping district we decided to head over to the tower, the largest man made structure in Tokyo. Standing at a little over 300 meters the tower is very similar to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, however it's colours are mostly red with a bit of white. This tower exists for the purpose of sending and receiving telecommunications signals, so it is not just a vanity statement. Interestingly enough, it appears that there will be a similar structure built soon, and it will be over 600 meters high, taller than the CN Tower.

When we went on our tour of Tokyo as I mentioned earlier, we ran across a buddhist/shinto festival in Asuka. Here's a video to show the zaniness of the situation.

The bachelor pad

Here's a picture of our room, it's a bit messy but clean (no thanks to us). It's about as big as any normal hotel room, though the beds are a little smaller. Plus it does have the Mecha-Crapzilla 2000, the crapper of the 22nd century. There's a desk area you can't see in the picture mostly due to the Japanese porn that Pat is looking at on my computer. Just kidding Mom:-?

Tokyo Night

Here's a pretty shot of Tokyo at night. It's a very peaceful quite city late at night though it was hard for me to get a cab at around 2:30 am. Now I know how Danny Glover feels.

Komode Dragon

Here's a picture that Pat took of our toilet. As you can see it's a crazy tech toilet and combines the functions of a bidet with a regular crap box- to create the Mecha-Crapzilla! This thing is pretty powerful, and at first use I thought it should have at least bought me dinner first. There's also a ladies setting, or as I like to call it the golf ball washer.

We had a great time yesterday. Starting off we had a great breakfast buffet that was $25.00 each but well worth it. Actually everything seems well worth it due the extreme politeness of the local people. Anyways we were a bit late to start the day due to Patrick's hemophiliac ways of bleeding, however we made the most of what we could get.

We went on a tour by a company called Greyline, where they described the different districts of Tokyo and we eventually ended up going to a Buddihst festival in Akusa, which is across Tokyo harbour. It was quite lovely to see, large crowds of people throwing coins at Buddhist shrines. While some people thought I might be the re-incarnation, I declined their desires to throw money at myself and bless their babies. This fat man is not so enlightened.

Flying High!

Here's some pictures from the flight. The long and short of it was that it was really nice and Air Canada showered this fat man and his slim friend with lots of food. Here's a photo of the trip and if blogger let's me there will be more- oh yes more.

Fun at Pearson

Well, we're here in Toronto and bored out of our skulls. If you're gong to be spending any time waiting for a plane in Pearson's International Boarding area, don't, I REPEAT DON'T, eat at Coyote Jacks. The bacon was undercooked, the eggs were greased up yellow cardboard chunks, and the toast wasn't even warm enough to melt the butter on it. Other than those little piccadillios we rather enjoyed the food.
